5718 BELL-MANTLE

 

You need: crepe-satin for outer mantle, chiffon for inner one; fusing, 2 studs.

 

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE DOUBLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS PROVIDED,

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE SINGLE CONTOUR, THE SEAM ALLOWANCE IS NOT PROVIDED.

 

Seam allowances: 1 cm for all seams. 2 cm for back/front hems as well as for sleeve hems.

 

ATTENTION! Before sewing, print paper patterns and lay them out according to the linen width (from 90 to 150 cm) to find out how much material you need (do not forget about double and symmetric details).

 

WHEN SEWING, BE CAREFUL WITH NOTCHES – THEY MUST BE COINCIDING!

 

 

CUTTING:

 

Fabric:

1. Back part – 1 piece

2. Front part – 1 piece

3. Sleeve – 2 pieces

4. Placket – 2 pieces

 

Chiffon:

1. Back part – 1 piece

2. Front part – 1 piece

3. Sleeve – 2 pieces

 

Fusing:

1. Placket – 2 pieces

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

1. Apply the fusing to plackets.

 

2. Mark placket lines on outer front part. Press plackets along the center right side out. Lay plackets on outer front part right sides together, with their edges to front middle. Stitch them, finish stitching at limiting line. Cut fastening as a slit pocket. Fold seams joining plackets into wrong side, press, then neaten.

 

3. Mark placket lines on inner front part. Lay plackets’ inner side on inner front part’s wrong side, with their edges to front middle. Stitch them, finish stitching at limiting line. Cut fastening as a slit pocket. Fold seams joining plackets into front part’s right side, press, then neaten.

 

4. Lay inner/outer front parts right sides together, fold plackets along the center; overstitch front part’s upper corners and front neckline stopping at 3 cm before shoulder edge. Cut allowances in corners, slash roundings. Turn plackets into right side, straighten the fastening. Fix corners at fastening’s end along base with double stitching, then neaten. Press ready fastening. Topstitch plackets along joining seam fixing in this way outer side to inner side.

 

5. Stitch shoulder edge in outer mantle. Press seam allowances apart and neaten them.

 

6. Stitch sleeves to the garment. Press seams toward sleeves and neaten them.

 

7. Press the hem into wrong side, fold t under and topstitch.

 

8. Lay chiffon front/back parts right sides out and stitch shoulder edges. Pres seam allowances and neaten them. Stitch sleeves to the garment, laying then right sides out. Press the seam toward the sleeve and neaten it. Lay chiffon mantle’s wrong side on outer mantle’s right side and overstitch along neckline. Slash rounded allowances, then the garment right side out and press it. Make decorative stitching along the neckline.

 

9. Sew studs to the fastening.
